Not only are Bridges a very useful strategy to cross a river but they’re also amazing works of art. There are numerous famous bridges around the world due to their architectural aspects. And the truth is wherever we go we instantly look for one to appreciate or even photograph. That being said, here you’ve got some of my favourite bridges around the world.

Existem inúmeras pontes conhecidas em todo o mundo devido aos seus aspectos arquitetónicos. E a verdade é que para onde quer que viajemos iremos imediatamente procurar apreciar ou mesmo fotografar uma. Assim sendo, aqui ficam algumas das minhas pontes favoritas em todo o mundo.
Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco, USA
This bridge is 2,7 km long and connects San Francisco with Marin County. It is definitely one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California and it was considered by The Frommers travel guide as "possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world".

Henderson Waves Bridge
It’s the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore and has a unique wave form linking up the parks at Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill.
É a ponte pedrestre mais alta em Singapura e tem uma forma de onda única ligando os parques de Mount Faber e Blangah Telok Hill.
Tower Bridge – London, UK
Built in 1894, it is one of the symbols of London and one of the most famous bridges in the world.
Construída em 1894, é um dos símbolos de Londres e uma das pontes mais famosas do mundo.
Banpo Bridge (South Korea): The Fountain Bridge
It Pumps out 190 tons of water per minute using the water from the river below which is why the Banpo Bridge entered the Guinness Record Book.
Gera 190 toneladas de água por minuto utilizando a água do rio i que justifica a entrada da Ponte Banpo no Livro dos Recordes do Guiness.
Ponte Vecchio – Florence, Italy
It is believed to be the oldest wholly-stone built, segmental arch bridge in Europe.Its interior is mainly known for its shops of jewellers, art dealers and souvenir sellers.
Acredita-se que seja a ponte de pedra a mais antiga pedra em arco segmentar na Europa. O seu interior é principalmente conhecido pelas suas lojas de joalharia, negociantes de arte e vendedores de souvenirs.

Wonderful photos. I presume one can walk over the Golden Gate Bridge. I’d like to do that when I go. The Singaporean bridge is gorgeous.

When I travelled through Denmark some years ago, I was struck by the variety and beauty of their many bridges.
We love bridges as well. We have two architectural sketches of bridges which we love: Golden Gate and the Brooklyn Bridge. Another fab bridge is the one in Sydney Harbour, Australia.

Thought I knew my bridges but never heard of the fountain/bridge in South Korea. What a great idea – combine utility with art to complement the setting and function. Thanks for sharing that.
Interesting post. I really like bridges too. There are some really interesting bridges in Cambridge, specifically around ‘The Backs’ where the university college bridges are. They make great photos.
I love Ponte Santa Trinita’ in Florence for the view it gives of the Ponte Vecchio. Florence is so incredibly sublime as it is… That is has such wonderful bridges is almost too much beauty!

Very nice! Takes me back to ‘Howrah Bridge’ in Kolkata… I have got some amazing pics of Howrah Bridge – but this gives me an idea to write a post on it probably!

The one in Florence looks beautiful! I love old drawings of the Old London Bridge in the medieval era, when there were tall buildings of shops and markets either side of the road.

Neat post! Have only walked on the Tower Bridge and the Ponte Veccio from your list! I do find the bridges in Paris and of course Avignon very romantic!

The Fountain Bridge looks beautiful. I haven’t been on that or the Waves bridges. I have read that the Ponte Vecchio was specifically spared from bombing in WWII because of it’s historic uniqueness. A newer, interesting bridge here in Boston, called the Zakim Bridge is very beautiful ,especially at night.

Nice post – I like bridges, last week I crossed over the 2,220 metre single-span Humber Suspension Bridge in the UK which is the fifth largest of its type in the World. This statistic used to be even more impressive because when it was first opened in 1981 it was the longest single-span suspension bridge in the World for the next sixteen years.
