DarkJade’s Films of Meaning – The Aviator
by DarkJade
Every now and then a Film is Made, where it feels like a Piece of your Culture’s History has been Potentially Represented…
Such was the case with The Aviator… As I am an American.
But in Truth, I do believe, Howard Hughes’ Impact Reached Much Further than just The United States.
When Director Martin Scorsese set out to do this Film, he had no idea how Large the Scope would be… Not until he started to work on the film, and quickly realized how Large everything was that Hughes Touched…
From his Film Hell’s Angels, which literally took years to make, and Millions upon Millions upon Millions of dollars… (I own this Film by the way, it is Simply Awesome)
To Dating the Biggest Stars of the time (Yes, that’s Gwenn Stefani Playing Jean Harlow)
And Ava Gardner (Played Exceptionally Well By Kate Beckinsale)
And even Katherine Hepburn, who he actually appeared to have loved…
Now Katherine Hepburn was Played by Cate Blanchett, and let me tell you, she Played This Role to the Hilt…
As Apparently a Few Others seemed to feel as well…
More Specifically, a Guy Named Oscar…
But Larger than all of that, was The Hercules…
Better Known as “The Spruce Goose“…
But in truth, it wasn’t a Specific Plane that was so Huge to Howard Hughes… It was Aviation itself that seemed to Captivate him in the Deepest Way…
More than the Money… More than the Fame… One Might say, more than Life itself…
The Man Just Loved anything, and all things, related to Aviation.
Which leads us to the Actor Who Played the Infamous Howard Hughes…
None other than the Star Powered, Leo (Leonardo) DiCaprio
A Man who knows a bit about being in the Spotlight just about as well as any other Human, after his Overwhelming Success with James Cameron’s Titanic…
And he was Truly Tremendous in this…
But I can go on and on about how Powerful the Acting Performances are in this Film…
And how Martin Scorsese, once again, takes us into another World…
Another time…
And The Music…
Don’t even get me started about the Music… Howard Shore’s Film Score is Utterly Epic…
And Simply Sweeping…
Yes, it’s True…
All of the Essential Pieces to pull off a Film of this Magnitude and Scope were in place…
But the reason to see this Film is This Man…
Howard Hughes
A Visionary… A Legend… An American Icon
And More Than that…
An Aviator

Heheh was dumbstruck by the size, and forgot, have this movie too. It is GREAT! I really enjoyed watching it and was very pleased at how well everyone played their parts.
Yeah, it’s a really Solid Piece of Film Work Scorsese is a Master

Holy crap! I have never seen a photo showing the Hercules in such light, I knew it was big, but you can see how gigantic it truly was, just look at those hangers it is next too, they look positively TINY!
Yeah, I thought it would be cooler to show an Actual Picture of it, as opposed to from the movie… It was fricken huge… And even more amazing was, it actually flew
DarkJade-
Very cool to see a picture like that! A very good idea to post it here. Yes, it did actually fly! LOL Sorry for taking so long to reply. Got seriously behind.
No Worries, Thanks for you Comments

OK OK!!!!! The final push I seem to need. I’ll definitely watch it %-)
lol, keep in mind Howard Hughes goes through some Tough Times with varying degrees of Mental illness, so it’s no Fairytale… But it’s a Great Film
DarkJade-
