There are just no words to describe such beauty…

I’d also like to point out that Joana Vasconcelos, a portuguese contemporary artist is the first woman and youngest artist showing her work in a temporary exposition on both the inside of Versailles Palace and its gardens. The exhibition runs from 19 June until 30 September. If you’d like to see a preview of the final results of her brilliant work that makes strong references to the Portuguese culture and its great symbiosis with the majestic Palais de Versailles, you’ll find it here.

Simplesmente não há palavras para descrever tal beleza…

Gostaria ainda de acrescentar que a Joana Vasconcelos, uma artista plástica portuguesa é a promiera mulher e a artista mais nova a mostrar o seu trabalho numa exposição temporária no Palácio de Versailles (quer no seu interior, quer nos Jardins). A exibição terá lugar de 19 de Juno até 30 de Setembro. Se pretenderem ver uma “preview” dos resultados finais do seu brilhante trabalho que apresentas fortes referências à cultura portuguesa e à sua magnifica simbiose que o majestoso Palácio de Versailles, encontrá-la-ão aqui.

Each year, 44 million tourists visit Paris and the surrounding Ile de France region which makes the French Capital, year after year, the most visited city in the world. The Seine river flows through Paris from the south-east to the south-west and is probably one of the most famous rivers in Europe.

A cada ano, 44 milhões de turistas visitam Paris bem como a região da Ile de France, o que torna a capital francesa, ano após ano, a cidade mais visitada do mundo. O rio Sena flui através de Paris a partir do sudeste ao sul-oeste e é provavelmente um dos rios mais famosos da Europa.

I’m not sure if you already know but “Paris” is not the city’s original name. When the first settlers in Paris, many centuries ago, were scrubbing their clothes on the muddy banks of the Seine, the city that would be founded on that spot was not referred to as Paris. Paris’s original name was Lutetia Parisiorum (called Lutèce in French), and the settlers were Celts known as the “Parisii.” It is believed that “Lutetia” comes from the Latin word “lutum,” which means “mud.” So the elegant, magic and glittering city that we all know and love, was probably first known as “mud town of the Parisii.”

Não tenho certeza se já sabem, mas "Paris" não é o nome original da cidade. Quando os primeiros colonos em Paris, há muitos séculos atrás, lavavam as roupas nas margens lamacentas do rio Sena, a cidade que seria fundada no local que não era conhecida como Paris. O nome original de Paris foi Lutetia Parisiorum (chamado Lutèce, em francês), e os colonos eram celtas conhecidos como "Parisii." Acredita-se que "Lutetia" vem da palavra latina "lutum", que significa "lama". Assim, a elegante , mágica e brilhante cidade que todos nós conhecemos e adoramos, foi provavelmente primeiramente conhecida como "cidade lamacenta dos Parisii."
