We got up in the morning and headed back onto the road and onto Las Vegas. As we got close to Nevada it finally got warmer and landscape more flat and arid and we stopped off for lunch on the way. No longer a need for hats, jackets and woolly hats.
We were introduced to Vegas by driving down the strip in the middle of the day. The enormity and the novelty strikes you straight away.
We eventually stayed in the “Hooters” hotel. Despite the stories of this particular chain surprisingly wasn’t as lurid as is reputed in Urban Legends (maybe I didn’t hang around in the bar long enough). Inside on the ground floor as expected was a casino and in the back a pool.
In the evening we were picked up by this horrid looking stretched truck limousine. By point many of the group had filled up before hand! We had a fantastic tour of Vegas at night and all the gaudy lights. Even my little IXUS was able to get some respectable photos (not of the group however!)
We stopped off and saw a light show in the old part of Vegas (can’t rembmer the exact name) with some images below.
We also made a compulsory stop to the Welcome to Vegas sign.
We were dropped off at Bellagio’s where we saw the famous light show (seen in Ocean’s 11). We went in and some of the group were far better at this gambling malarkey, I annoyingly lost $10 on a black jack table but made $7.5 on a slot machine. At that point I called it quits. They don’t make these casinos out of marble because people make lots of money! After a while I headed back to the hotel (last photo). (on a side not the people on the slot machines in the casino in the hotel would still be the same people, on the same machine in the morning, just with a glummer look.)

Amazing pictures!!
I’ll be in Lost Wages myself the first week in March. Maybe I’ll do a blog as well. Thanks for your photos.
Beautiful!!!
Viva viva Las Vegas! Looks like you had an awesome time
