At the gateway to Normandy, 80 km from Paris and 60 km from Rouen, the village of Giverny  is located on the right bank of the River Seine. Claude Monet discovered this village whilst looking out of the train window. He was so enthusiastic about the spot that he  rented a house there , "the Press House". There are two parts in Monet’s famous garden: first there’s a flower garden called Clos Normand in front of the house and then a Japanese inspired water garden that can be found on the other side of the road.

I must say it was absolutely worth to visit Giverny and Monet’s Gardens and House because while there for instants we can actually believe we’re in some his masterpieces. It’s not that far from Paris and all you’ve got to do is catching a train to Vernon and then the Bus to Giverny which will take you about an hour.
